The Reality

Most Muslims can read the Quran.
But not many understand what they're doing.

The majority of Muslims learned to read the Quran by listening, repeating and imitating — often from a young age, often without anyone explaining the rules behind what they were doing.

The result is a generation of reciters who can read fluently, but who are applying Tajweed rules by instinct rather than by understanding. Some rules are applied correctly without knowing why. Others are missed entirely.

This is not a failure. It's simply a gap — and it's one that can be closed.

"You are not a beginner. You already read. This is simply the missing piece."

🔄

Learned through repetition

Rules were absorbed by ear, not explained — meaning mistakes embedded themselves silently over years.

Rules applied without understanding

Without understanding the rule, it can't be applied consistently or corrected when wrong.

🕌

Adult learning is hard to find

Structured Tajweed classes for adults — especially affordable, flexible ones — are genuinely difficult to find.

📚

Resources feel too complicated

Most Tajweed books are written for Islamic sciences students, not everyday Muslims who want to understand their recitation.

The Shift

From reading by habit to reading with understanding

Tajweed Unlocked is a structured, honest bridge between where most reciters are and where they want to be.

Before
Applying rules without knowing their names or conditions
Not knowing what the symbols in the Mushaf mean
Unable to identify mistakes in your own recitation
Reading by repetition and imitation alone
After
Understanding what each rule is and when it applies
Reading the Uthmani script with visual awareness
Knowing what to look and listen for in your recitation
A structured foundation to continue improving from

What's Inside

Every section. Every rule. Explained clearly.

Tajweed Unlocked is a 52-page structured workbook. Every rule section follows the same format — what the rule is, when it applies, Quranic examples from the Mushaf, common errors, Tips & Tricks for spotting the rule visually in the Uthmani script, and a Self Check.

Foundations
📖

Preface & How to Use

Sets the intention behind the workbook and explains how to get the most from each section — including keeping your Mushaf open as you read.

📘

Summary of the Basics

Covers vowels, Sukoon, Tanween, Shaddah, Hamzatul Wasl and heavy vs light letters — the building blocks everything else connects back to.

Noon Sakinah & Tanween — 4 Rules
1

Izhar

When followed by one of the six throat letters, the Noon is pronounced clearly with no nasal sound.

2

Idgham

The Noon merges into the following letter — with Ghunnah for four letters, and without for Laam and Raa.

3

Iqlab

When followed by a Baa, the Noon converts to a Meem sound. The easiest to spot in the Uthmani script.

4

Ikhfa

When followed by fifteen specific letters, the Noon is hidden — between clarity and merge — with a 2-count Ghunnah.

Meem Sakinah — 3 Rules
5

Ikhfa Shafawi

Meem Sakinah before Baa — the Meem is softened and hidden with a Ghunnah before the Baa is pronounced.

6

Idgham Shafawi

Meem Sakinah before another Meem — the first merges completely into the second with a 2-count Ghunnah.

7

Izhar Shafawi

Meem Sakinah before any other letter — pronounced clearly, with extra care before Faa and Waw.

Further Rules
8

Qalqalah

The bouncing echo of five specific letters when they carry a Sukoon — minor in the middle of a word, fuller when stopping.

9

Madd

When and how long to stretch Alif, Waw and Yaa — including normal, longer and obligatory stretches.

10

Laam Rules

Hamzatul Wasl, Laam Shamsiyyah and Laam Qamariyyah — with visual identification in the Uthmani script.

How every rule section is structured

Every rule follows the same clear, consistent format — so you always know what to expect and how to apply what you've learned.

Who It's For

Made for a specific kind of learner

Not a beginner to Quran. Not an advanced student of Islamic sciences. Someone who can already read — but has never had the rules properly explained.

✅ This is for you if...
You can read the Quran but have never formally studied the Tajweed rules
You learned mainly through listening and repetition
You know some Tajweed by habit but want to understand the rules you're using
You want to read the Mushaf with better awareness of what the symbols mean
You want to learn at your own pace without recurring class costs
✗ This is not for you if...
You cannot yet read Arabic — this assumes you can already read
You expect guaranteed perfect recitation — this builds understanding, not perfection
You need one-to-one pronunciation correction — a qualified teacher is the right tool for that
You are looking for an advanced specialist Tajweed course

What You'll Gain

A stronger foundation for your recitation

The goal of Tajweed Unlocked is understanding and awareness — not instant perfection.

🧠

Rule-by-rule understanding

You'll understand what each core Tajweed rule is, when it applies and why — not just that something sounds a certain way.

👁️

Visual recognition in the Mushaf

The Tips & Tricks sections teach you how to spot each rule visually in the Uthmani script — so the Mushaf guides your recitation.

🎯

Awareness of your own errors

Understanding the rules gives you the ability to identify where you've been going wrong — something impossible without knowing what correct looks like.

📐

A structured foundation

Rather than scattered pieces of knowledge, you'll have a connected understanding of how the core Tajweed rules relate to one another.

💚

A more intentional recitation

When you understand what you're doing and why, your relationship with the words of Allah changes.

🌱

A platform to keep improving

This is a foundation — not a ceiling. Every further learning you do builds on something solid.

Questions

Things people ask before purchasing

No. The workbook begins with a Summary of the Basics covering vowels, Sukoon, Tanween and Shaddah before any rules are introduced. However you do need to be able to read Arabic — this is not an Arabic literacy course.
No — and any product claiming that would not be honest. What this workbook gives you is genuine, structured understanding of the core rules. That understanding is the foundation that makes real improvement possible. Perfecting your recitation is a longer journey, and this is a strong starting point.
No. A qualified teacher who can listen and correct your recitation in real time is always the ideal. This workbook gives you the conceptual understanding many people never had — even after years of reading. It complements a teacher rather than replacing one.
There is no set timeline. The workbook is designed to be worked through at your own pace — one rule at a time, whenever you have a moment. The preface itself says: "There is no rush. Work through each section at your own pace."
It is a 52-page PDF. After purchasing through Payhip you'll receive an email with a download link immediately. Works on any device — phone, tablet or desktop. A4 format, prints clearly if you prefer a physical copy.
